however, reality is often more complicated than imagined. the changes in xihaigu also changed cao guoxiang's life trajectory. he left xihaigu to find a new direction and new meaning. he returned to his hometown with his children and found that the former primary school building had long been abandoned and people had moved from the mountainous area to helan county, yinchuan city.

"i walked out of here. this is how we studied back then... our teacher... a kind-hearted person sponsored me..."

in cao guoxiang's eyes, the light of xihaigu is still clearly visible. it has witnessed the growth of youth as well as the changes and progress of society.
